Teen Parent Services

Teen Parent Services

To inspire, support, and invoke passion for continued learning.

Teen Parent Services helps young Moms and Dads confront challenges and create opportunities. Our mission has been to provide teen parents with support and resources to help navigate their lives as parents and as students. Academic support, Counseling, and Advocacy are our primary services. Our program provides support for all pregnant and parenting students within the Portland Public Schools District boundary.

Our partnership with Albina Early Head Start, provides Teen Parent students the opportunity for receiving on-site childcare. We currently provide childcare at Franklin, Madison and Roosevelt High Schools.

Our program provides parenting education delivered through group format as well as individual instruction. Male mentorship is available for young fathers. Mentor relationships provide support to individual teen fathers through individual and small group settings.

Students receive Home Instruction for 6 weeks after the birth of their child. The Home Instructor maintains contact with teachers, retrieves class work and provides home instruction in each student’s home so students don’t fall behind in their schoolwork.

Teen Parent Services also provides Credit Recovery and Post High School planning.  Language Arts, Elective and Health credits are available through our program.  Career related learning support is provided to students, utilizing each student's educational plan, achieving employment and/or acceptance into vocational or high education opportunities.  Our belief is, "Successful Students and Successful Parents".
